Athletics

CE managed to capture the Overall Champions for both Men’s and Women’s categories. We also captured the keenly contested Women’s Individual Champion; when Sport Management student, Shahirah Md.Rizal (UP1004Q); Gold in 100m, & 200m and Nur Hamizah Hamid (UO1101F) from Office Skills; Gold in 400m & 800m, who were crowned Joint Individual Champions. The Men’s Individual Champion went to Muhd Zuhair (JM1104A) from Chemical Technology who made a treble, by grabbing the Gold in 100m, 200m and 400m. Individual Champions are crowned based on the most number of individual medals won by an athlete. A new record was also written in the process, by Dereck Lee, Sport Management in the 10,000m, completing the 25-lap run in 42min 36.2seconds. Notably, our CE Sprinters also made a clean sweep in the 100m placing 1st to 5th out of the possible 8 positions in the Men’s Finals.

 

Archery

Archery is a sport involving the use of a bow and arrows, with the aim of scoring the most points by accurately shooting the arrow to the centre of the target. Archery was developed as a sport from its origins as a weapon of war, and it is practiced in most countries in the world. It provides excellent training in developing focus, concentratrion and determination.

Badminton

Badminton playing and training sessions for CCA recreational and competitive teams for males and females full-time students.

Basketball

Basketball is one of the most popular sports here in ITE College East. Invented in 1891 by James Naismith, basketball was made popular worldwide by the NBA, with stars such as Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Shaquille O’Neal. All aspiring basketball players, visit our booth at the CCA FAIR on Friday, 13 January 2012 for more information, where we will reveal more about this season’s competition and training schedules.

Bowling

All CE students are eligible to join. The aim of the club is to identify, train and prepare students for competitions, as well as to promote bowling as an active CCA in ITE College East. You will have the opportunity of participating in college, inter-college, as well as ITESC sanctioned tournaments. At the end of the year, Bowling Club members will be awarded with CCA points according to your active participation.

Cycling

This Cycling Club includes mountain & road biking, hand cycling and the unicycle. Beginners are welcome to learn to ride a bike. While bicycles and safety gear are provided, members may also choose to bring their own bikes and equipment if they want to.

Dragon Boat

If you want to get fit and try something different, if you have energy to spare, enjoy tough training, and are fit and competitive, this is the sport for you. And if you are a team player, disciplined, committed and have good endurance, we need you. Dragon boat racing is enjoyed by people of all ages (12 to 60) in over 50 countries and territories around the world. It is a flat-water, sprint paddling sport, with a padding style similar to those in sprint canoe without the kneeling and outrigger racing, using single-blade paddles. The challenge of dragon boat racing lies not only in fitness and technique but also in synchronizing with 19 other paddlers on the boat through all phases of the stroke and through the entire race course. The challenge is even greater for a mixed team of paddlers of different sizes and strength levels. Dragon boat races are typically 500 meters, but occasionally there are 250m, 1000m, 2000m and marathon races.

Fitness-X

The Fitness Club aims to sharpen and push students in areas of endurance and mental strength. Students will participate in endurance programs such as marathons, ironman races and biathlons. In 2010 we participated in the Urbanathlon 2010, 2xu run, Sprint Series Triathlon, SAFRA Biathlon, AHM and Swiss Hotel Vertical marathon and many more.

Floorball

A Floorball is an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s. The game is played indoors on a GerFlor, making it a year-round sport at the amateur and professional levels. Our teams have been participating in, and excelling in many competitions both in the ITE scene as well as at the POLITE and IVP levels. Graduates from the Mens College East team have also progressed into the National Team, representing Singapore at international competitions overseas.

 

Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport, fast gaining popularity around the world. The game is played with a flying disc between two teams of seven players on a large rectangular pitch. The objective of the game is to score points by passing the disc to a player in the opposing end zone. The simplicity of the rules means it’s easy and fun and anyone can easily learn this sport although to compete at the highest level Ultimate players require an unmatched degree of agility, speed and stamina.

Handball

Handball is a fast playing invasion games with the combination of balls skills from Basketball, Soccer and Netball. It is played on 40m by 20m. At the each end of the court is a goalpost which is 3m wide by 2m high. The objective of the game is simply to score more than the other team.

Judo

Judo is a Japanese martial art that involves many throwing and grappling techniques. It is not just a sport that can develop stamina, general health and overall fitness but one that has many important moral aspects, requiring students to be outstanding examples of good character and conduct.

Karate

For students who wish to learn a form of self defence, Karate is one of the martial arts offered in ITE College East. Karate not only trains the body but also the mental aspect of an individual. Coached by a highly-experienced instructor, students will be well taught in the technicalities of the sport. On top of that, they will also have the chance to participate in tournaments to allow them to pit their skills with others. Come join the club and pick up a new skill today!

Kendo

Kendo is the modern martial art of Japanese sword fighting, descended from the traditional Kenjutsu. It’s form is based upon the two handed Japanese sword, the Kantana. Practitioners temper themselves physically and mentally through rigorous training. They discipline their character through the application of the principles of the Katana. Kendo is practiced using traditional Japanese equipment; this includes the kendo gi(uniform), the bogu(protective armour), and the Shinai(bamboo sword).

Netball

Netball. The most popular female sport in Singapore. Netball is a team sports where individuals come together to play as a team. The more the merrier so do come join us for fun-filled training sessions and learn and perfect the skill of playing Netball. So register with us NOW! Outdoor Adventure Club

It doesn’t matter if you’re a gung-ho extrovert or an introvert, the Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC) will cater to your varied interests. The only requirements are an interest in experiencing new things and the drive to better oneself. The OAC prides itself in grooming and nurturing leaders as well as imparting to its members life lessons that are not taught in the classrooms. OAC members form a closely knit group so you will never find yourself alone. The OAC teaches its members camp-craft and other basic outdoor skills that will certainly be put to use in the expeditions and trips that are organized locally or overseas. OAC members will get the chance to immerse in new cultures and experience new sights and sounds as the OAC encourages its members to embark on overseas expeditions to various locations like Thailand and China. Members are also given the opportunity to assist the community, locally as well as overseas in the various community works organized. CCA points will be awarded to active members at the end of the year. Aspiring members will have the opportunity to take the helm as office holders and uphold the club’s motto: To dare, to dream.

Rock Climbing

Are you a spiderman wannabe? Can’t find a place to climb? If you have a passion for rock climbing and dreams of becoming a certified rock climber, this is the club for you! From the bouldering wall to the high wall, CE climbers can help you become the expert climber you have always wanted to be. Now, where’s that radioactive spider?!

Rugby & Touch Rugby

Rugby (Boys) and Touch Football (Girls) have our training  sessions on Mondays, 5pm – 7pm. For beginners,  we will teach you the basic skills of passing and line-up formation. For those experienced players will go on to game tactics and set-play to hone their skills for the POL-ITE tournament.

Sepak Takraw

Soccer (Men)

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in ITE College East. For the past 2 years, we have achieved success in both the Boys & Girls tournaments. Do join our Soccer Club where you will realise your full potential.

Swimming

The Swimming CCA is open to swimmers who are competent in competitive or semi-competitive swimming. Students must be proficient in at least 2 swim strokes namely freestyle and breaststroke.

Table Tennis

If you enjoyed playing Ping Pong, or want to learn the basic skills, come join in the fun and be part of the team. As a member of the Table Tennis Club, you will have the opportunity to play challenging games within the college, and get to know students who share the same interest as you. While enjoying the sport, you’ll be surprised by how the interaction with students with the other Schools can be loads of fun. Club members will have the opportunity to organise competitions and you could even get involved in leading the club as office holders. At the end of the year Table Tennis Club members will be awarded with CCA points according to participation.

Tae-Kwon-Do

Our Tae-kwon-do club is led by one of our highly experienced instructors Jason Tan. He is dedicated to the study and pursuit of excellence in martial arts and holds a black belt in Tae-kwon-do. In addition to receiving a firm foundation in Tae-kwon-do skills, members benefit them in many ways:
a. Strengthen your body & mind
b. Enhance your reflexes
c. Develop respect for elders & seniors
d. Lead a disciplined life
e. Temper management
f. Protect your loved ones & family Members will have the opportunity of passing and graduating to new belts.

At the end of the year, Tae-kwon-do club members will be awarded with CCA points according to your active participation.

Tchoukball

Tchoukball is a fairly new sport that is growing in popularity. If you like a touch of netball, basketball and handball all rolled into one, Tchoukball is for you! And best of all it’s non-contact. Join our team to learn how to play this game, which relies on team work, committment and strategic thinking. Beautiful play begets beautiful play! Add us on FB: CollegeEast Tchoukball.

Volleyball

Volleyball CCA is made up of fun-loving students who are passionate about the sport. We also welcome students who have no prior experience as training will be provided.

Wing Chun / Wushu

If you are interested in Wushu and want to be equipped with basic skills then this club is for you. As a member of the Wushu Club, you will learn about basic Wushu skills. You will also have the opportunity to participate in outings organized by the club as well as involving yourself in leading the club as office bearers. At the end of the year, Wushu Club members will be awarded with CCA points according to their participation level.

X-Country

Captured 4 Division Titles in 2009 in the ITESC X-Country and the ITESC Track & Field Meet. CE’s best participated in the 1st POL-ITE Track & Field Meet 2009 winning the Silver in the 4x100m relay, silver and bronze in the Men’s 100m sprint. CE had the biggest contingent of participants in the 2009 and 2010 IVP amongst the 3 colleges. In 2011,we have regained all the 4 Div titles at the ITESC X-Country C’ships.
