South East Clean & Green Singapore Carnival 2016

In conjunction with the national Clean and Green Singapore (CGS) Campaign, the South East Community Development Council (SECDC) and National Environment Agency, South East Regional Office (NEA SERO) organised the South East Clean & Green Singapore Carnival and Launch Ceremony on 12 and 13 Nov 2016 at Bedok Town Square. The event was hosted by Mayor of South East District, Dr Maliki Osman and graced by Guest of Honour, Emeritus Senior Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong.
At this carnival, College East Environmental Club conducted two DIY recycling craft booth; members of the public visiting the booth were taught to use recycled banners to create cardholders and recycled electronic cables to create accessories. Our students also facilitated the Tetra Pak Art Jamming sessions and shared with public members on the recycling of Used Beverage Cartons.
Winners of the Waste to Craft Creativity Competition also received their prize from Dr Maliki Osman during this carnival on 12 Nov 2016. The Waste-to-Craft Creativity Competition is organised by ITE in collaboration with NEA and South East CDC; this year Ascendas-Singbridge Gives Foundation sponsored a total of $12,500 for this competition which was participated by Primary, Secondary and ITE students. The theme for this year’s competition was ‘Design a Recycling Bin’; prototype of the top 3 winners’ from each category as well as the Open category was displayed over the 2-day carnival on 12 & 13 Nov 2016 for public viewing.
