Financial Assistance Schemes

ITE offers financial assistance to students who have difficulty paying their school fees and/or require financial support for other reasons. This is to ensure that all students, regardless of their financial background, are given the opportunity to continue their studies. Needy students are able to apply for assistance through the following schemes.

Community Development Council & Citizens’ Consultative Committee-Institute of Technical Education (CDC & CCC-ITE) Bursary

The CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary is open to Singaporean applicants seeking admission to full-time courses at ITE.

To be eligible, the applicants must have a gross monthly household income (MHI) that does not exceed $4,000 or gross monthly household per capita income (PCI) that does not exceed $1,000. The bursary quantum is given in the table below:

Each award is for one year. A full-time student in a 2-year course will have to reapply for the award at the beginning of the second year of study.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Is a Singapore Citizen
2. Gross monthly household income is $4,000 and below or gross monthly household per capita income is $1,000 and below
3. Is not in receipt of the CDC & CCC-ITE Scholarship or any other ITE Scholarship/Bursary award (excluding Edusave Merit Bursary)
4. Is not in receipt of a monthly training allowance as a sponsored student or trainee
5. Must have at least 1 year of study to undergo till the end of the academic year

How to Apply
Applicants can follow the steps below to apply for the CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary through the web:

  1. Log in to ITE Student Portal
  2. Click on the “iStudent/Financial Assistance” icon
  3. Click on the “Financial Assistance” icon
  4. Select “Financial Assistance” and click “Next”.
  5. Follow the instructions and type in necessary fields in the online application form

Applicants are required to attach scanned copies of their  supporting income documents (e.g. latest payslips, letters from employers) for verification. If they are not able to attach the scanned copies, they may deposit the photocopies of the documents into the Bursary dropbox located at the Customer & Visitor Centre. Applicants should indicate their name & NRIC number clearly on these documents before depositing them into the dropbox.  Incomplete submission of income documents will delay the processing of the bursary.

Commencement and Closing Date of Bursary Application
The application for January and April intakes will commence for one month upon the start of each respective term. If the application has closed, students may still apply for Financial Assistance via ITE Student Portal for other bursary awards.

Status of Bursary Application
Applicants may check the application status via the ITE Student Portal about 4 weeks after the submission deadline. Successful applicants will be informed by their respective nearest Community Centres to collect the bursary cheques. The presentation of the cheques will usually take place by end of April for January Intake students and end of July for April Intake students.

MOE Bursary

The MOE Bursary is introduced for ITE students who do not meet the criteria for CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary but have a gross monthly household income (MHI) that does not exceed $9,000 or gross monthly household per capita income (PCI) that does not exceed $2,250. Students may apply for the bursary at any time during an academic year. Each award is for one year. The bursary quantum is given in the table below:

Eligibility Criteria
1. Is a subsidized Singapore citizen student pursuing a full-time Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma course
2. Must not concurrently hold other bursaries or scholarships

  1. Log in to ITE Student Portal
  2. Click on the “iStudent/Financial Assistance” icon
  3. Click on the “Financial Assistance” icon
  4. Select “Financial Assistance” and click “Next”.
  5. Follow the instructions and type in necessary fields in the online application form

Applicants are required to deposit the photocopies of their  supporting income documents (e.g. latest payslips, letters from employers) into the Bursary dropbox located at the Customer & Visitor Centre. Applicants should indicate their name & NRIC number clearly on these documents before depositing them into the dropbox.

As all financial assistance monies are credited into the applicant’s account via GIRO, applicants have to complete part 1 of the GIRO form and submit it together with a copy of the front page of your bank book – the page with your account name & account no. or make arrangement for bank’s endorsement on the GIRO form. The GIRO form is available at the Customer & Visitor Centre.

Status of Bursary Application
Successful applicants will be informed by the College.

Special Student Assistance Scheme (SSAS)

The ITE Special Student Assistance Scheme (SSAS) is a one-off financial assistance to tide students over short-term financial difficulties. It also serves as a form of transitional financial assistance to help students tide over sudden financial crisis in the family, so that they can continue with their studies.  The quantum of award shall be decided by the College based on the needs of the case, typically in the range of $100 to $400.

How to Apply
Applicants can follow the steps below to apply for the SSAS through the web:

  1. Log in to ITE Student Portal
  2. Click on the “iStudent/Financial Assistance” icon
  3. Click on the “Financial Assistance” icon
  4. Select “Financial Assistance” and click “Next”.
  5. Follow the instructions and type in necessary fields in the online application form

Monthly Financial Assistance Scheme (MFAS)

The Monthly Financial Assistance Scheme (MFAS) aims to provide monthly pocket allowance to needy students who face special hardship circumstances and require regular financial assistance to help them with daily expenses.  The quantum of award is $150 per month.  The number of months of award shall be decided by the College based on the needs of the case.

  3. Click on the “Financial Assistance” icon
  4. Select “Financial Assistance” and click “Next”.
  5. Follow the instructions and type in necessary fields in the online application form

Opportunity Fund (OF)

The OF is a scheme to subsidise students to participate in various enrichment programmes, study trips and to own personal computers.

To be eligible, you have to be a Singapore Citizen, a full-time student in first academic year of study with ITE and not under the Traineeship scheme.  Yours and/or your immediate family’s Gross Monthly Per Capita Income (PCI) must not exceed $950.

Subsidy is given one-off for a student during his/her studies in ITE. Successful applicants are not eligible to apply for another subsidy from the OF. The subsidy quantum is one-off up to 80% of the cost of the IT Device (PC/Laptop/Tablet), subject to a cap of $200.

Application must be made online through the ITE Student Portal.

How to Apply
Applicants can follow the steps below to apply for OF online:

  1. Log in to ITE Student Portal
  2. Click on the “iStudent/myFinance” icon
  3. Click on the “Financial Assistance” icon
  4. Select “Purchase of PC, Laptop or Tablet” and click “Next”.
  5. Read the instructions and click “Next”
  6. Select “Purchase of PC Desktop/Notebook/Tablet (Outside NEU PC Plus)” and type in necessary fields in the online application form

Applicants are required to deposit photocopies of their supporting income documents (e.g. latest payslips, letters from employers, etc) into the Opportunity Fund Drop Box located at the Customer & Visitor Centre. Applicants are required to indicate their names and NRIC numbers clearly on these documents before submission.

Status of OF Application
Successful applicants will be informed by the College via a Letter of Approval (OF) and must complete the purchase of an IT Device (PC/Laptop/Tablet) within two months from the date of issue of the approval letter.

Successful applicants may purchase their IT devices (PC/Laptop/Tablet) from any local PC vendors. Applicants are required to submit their receipts or tax invoices as proof of purchases together with their completed GIRO forms.

As all OF monies are credited into the applicant’s account via GIRO, applicants are required to complete Part 1 of the GIRO form and submit it together with a copy of the front page of your bank book – the page with your account name & account no. or make arrangement for bank’s endorsement on the GIRO form. The GIRO form is available at the Customer & Visitor Centre.

NEU PC Plus Programme

The NEU PC Plus Programme offer students and persons with disabilities from low income households the opportunity to own a brand new computer at an affordable price.

To be eligible, you have to be a Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident and a full-time student with ITE. Past recipient may reapply after a lapse of 3 years from last deployment to the household. Yours and/or your immediate family’s Gross Monthly Household Income must not exceed $3,400 or Per Capita Income (PCI) must not exceed $900.

Each household can apply for 1 PC-Bundle regardless of total number of school-going children. Applicants are eligible to apply for broadband service only if the household does not have commercial broadband service.

How to Apply
Applicants may visit the IMDA website and print the application form for the NEU PC Plus Programme. Alternatively, applicants may approach Student Services to obtain the hardcopy application form. Applicants are required to complete the application form and submit the supporting documents into the NEU PC Plus Programme Drop Box located at the Customer & Visitor Centre.

Status of OF Application
Successful applicants will be informed by the College via a Letter of Approval (NEU PC Plus Programme).
