The Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition 2011 is the largest flying machine competition in Singapore and the nationwide hunt for a flying wonder. This competition is organized by DSO National Laboratories and Science Centre Singapore and was held from 7 March 2011 to 18 March 2011 in the Annex Hall at Science Centre Singapore.
All participating teams will work on the different aspects of the competition, the Challenge and the Presentation. For the Challenge, the teams are to design, build and fly their flying machines to overcome different challenges for different categories of the SAFMC events. For the Presentation, besides building the flying machine, the teams are to present their flying machine design and their learning journey in this competition to a panel of judges.
ITE College East took part in 2 categories of the competitions, Category C (JC/ITE) and Category E (Open). The teams were led by team managers Mr Mervyn Teo and Mr Timothy Tan from SEIT, and had managed to achieve 4 medals from the competition. They were presented in the Award Presentation Ceremony on 19 March 2011, with Ms Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Education, as the Guest-of-Honor.
Category C (JC/ITE): Each team has to design and build a small remote-controlled air platform capable of completing a series of exciting tasks.
