Muhammad Harithzan Bin Jantan won the Skills Challenge in the first Manchester United Residential Camp held in Singapore from 3 to 5 December 2010. The camp witnessed 40 international participants, housed at CE International Hall, learning soccer skills through the Manchester United way. The camp was led by 3 soccer coaches from Manchester, UK.

Sabrina Bte Abdullah, a final year Digital Audio and Video Production CE student has been selected for the The Apprenticeship Programme (TAP) organised by Noise Singapore: a youth arts festival organised by National Arts Council on 28 Oct 2010. For 10 weeks starting October 2010, Sabrina will be taken under the wing of her mentor and renowed local photographer Sha Ying.

15 College East students received the Bestari Award 2010 during the Bestari Award ceremony which was held on 21 Oct 2010 at ITE. ITE College East students have done remarkably well in this year’s Bestari Award. Three students from ITE College East emerged in the top four positions and were shortlisted for the “4PM Bestari Outstanding Student Award”. The students are Siti Hasanah Binte Mohammed S from Higher Nitec in Integrated Logistics Management, Norliana Binte Abdul Rahim from Nitec in Nursing and Mohamed Faisal Bin Mohamed Soffe from Higher Nitec in Electrical Engineering.

A Team from Electronics Engineering, School of EIT/CE produced a winning entry that garnered an Encouragement Award at the Green Wave Environment Care Project Competition organized by Sembawang Shipyard on 19 Oct 2010. The winning entry submitted by the team takes the form of an innovative power socket that allows consumers to draw electricity via a CEPAS EZlink pre-paid card. The device is targeted for installation and use by consumers at suitable public locations around libraries, schools, hospitals, airports and shopping malls. Leveraging on the concept of pay-per-use, it is envisaged that the costs of infrastructure setup will be recovered within an economically viable time frame.

Since 2009, the Electrical Engineering Club students, led by College East lecturers Mr Chai Yoon Peow and Mr Tan Kheng Heng, had been actively involved in Project Assistive Technol,ogy for All (PATA) projects to enhance the well-being of the people with physical disabilities. In recognition of their volunteering efforts in PATA, the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) awarded ITE College East with a plague on 10 Jul 2010.
